If you are arriving from overseas, please contact your agent and/or email our team to tell them that your flight is confirmed, and your visa has been issue: info@elc.edu.au/vocational
Students are advised, if possible, to arrive into Sydney one week before their course commences. This is to allow time in case you test positive to COVID when you arrive in Sydney and in this case to self isolate for 7 days.
It is important that you check the latest requirements to board a flight to Australia and to enter Australia at least a week before you depart. Please remember the requirements are different between each country and airlines, so if your flight has a stop over or transit in different airports, please check them individually.
If the college cannot deliver classes face-to-face because of a NSW government health order then lessons will be delivered live online via Zoom until the health order is lifted.
You must self-isolate immediately and follow the advice provided by NSW Health here: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/factsheets/Pages/advice-for-confirmed.aspx
You should also contact the SELC team to advise us of a positive result as soon as you receive it.
You should definitely wear a mask on your flight, on arrival at Sydney airport and in the transport to your accommodation. Guidelines for mask wearing in general situations are subject to change. For the latest rules see: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/stay-safe/rules/face-mask-rules
If you cannot start your course when expected because of a COVID positive test result, SELC will offer you the chance to start your course online .
Test yourself immediately if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, even if mild and even if you are fully vaccinated. Many supermarkets and pharmacies sell Rapid Antigen tests. Do not come to school. For the latest advice see: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/factsheets/Pages/advice-for-suspected.aspx
Remember that if you do a Rapid Antigen Test and it is positive, you must self-isolate for 7 days or longer if you still have symptoms. You can go to a COVID testing clinic to confirm the result with a PCR test. Note that if your Rapid Antigen Test is negative but you continue to have symptoms then you should also go to a COVID testing clinic for a PCR test.
Don’t come to school if you have any symptoms. But you can call or message the ELC team if you need help with anything including finding a testing clinic near you.

Self-isolation means you must stay at your home or accommodation and remain separated from others. You can only leave to get medical care (such as a COVID-19 test) or in an emergency. You cannot have visitors. Do not visit any shops on the way to or from the testing clinic. Don’t come to school.
If you are living in shared accommodation, you must keep completely separated from other students during your self-isolation period. This means:
• Stay and sleep in a separate room
• Use a separate bathroom if available, or clean a shared bathroom after use
• Do not be in the same room as another person (even if they are also in isolation)
• Do not share household items including dishes, cups, towels and bedding. After using these items, wash them thoroughly with soap.
Important information for new arrivals into Australia is available here: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/factsheets/Pages/recent-vaccinated-arrivalsguidelines.aspx
You must take a Rapid Antigen Test (the type of COVID test you can do yourself) within 24 hours of arriving in NSW (either at the airport or when you arrive at your accommodation).
It is recommended that you bring a test with you from your home/transit country, but you should check that it meets Australian requirements here: https://www.tga.gov.au/covid-19-rapid-antigenself-tests-are-approved-australia. It may not be possible to buy a Rapid Antigen Test at the airport and you may have to buy one from a supermarket or pharmacy after arrival at your accommodation.
If you are going to take the test once at your accommodation, you should travel there by private transport, wearing a mask at all times. Once there you should take a Rapid Antigen Test. You can leave your accommodation only to buy a Rapid Antigen test.
If the test is negative you do not need to self-isolate. However, you should watch carefully for symptoms of COVID-19 for the first two weeks after arriving in NSW, and if symptoms occur, immediately have a rapid antigen test.
If the test is positive you must:
• self-isolate for 7 days
• contact SELC*. Call us on 9267 5688 or email us info@elc.edu.au/vocational
• register your positive test result with NSW health
• seek medical care if your symptoms become severe. In an emergency dial 000.
