We are very excited to announce one of our new initiatives for 2020 and beyond!
At ELC, we care about our planet and have made a commitment to sustainability in 2020. Through a number of initiatives, we vow to make a positive contribution to the future of our environment.
Firstly, we have partnered with One Tree Planted to support reforestation. Trees clean our air and water, create habitats for biodiversity, contribute to our health and wellbeing, and create jobs for social impact. We’re honoured to have reforestation through One Tree Planted as an integral part of our business.
For every 100 students that study at ELC, we will plant 50 trees in Australia, with the support of One Tree Planted.
Every tree makes a positive impact for nature, wildlife, and people. In Australia, planting trees will help to restore wildlife habitats and create healthy ecosystems capable of resilience. Reforestation efforts also assist in improving soil quality, preventing erosion, controlling invasive species and growing back native vegetation.
So far we have planted 200 trees!
In addition to supporting reforestation, we will be implementing a number of actions here at school. Here are some examples of the actions we will be taking:
REFUSE, REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE
Monthly school activities
Discussions in classes
In March, students have the opportunity to attend a free “Films for Change” screening, entitled “Drowning in Plastic”. This documentary explores the issue of plastic waste and how it is affecting our marine life.
We hope our actions will make a difference in the future of our planet for generations to come, and we encourage all our partners, students and friends to get on board with us!
