Your main classes will run Monday to Thursday, with optional classes on Fridays, as well as Tuesdays and Thursdays in the late afternoon. This schedule demonstrates that you can choose to study anywhere from 20 hours to 27 hours each week according to your goals and interests.
Our General English courses welcome students of all English abilities, from beginner to proficient. The program is structured around 5 main course levels, as highlighted in the table below, which each take 12 weeks to complete. Inside each of these levels, 3 sub-levels and several classes running concurrently allow for for a more precise placement on first day and ensure students feel their progression to the next stage every 4 weeks.
If you are looking to join a Cambridge, IELTS or EAP course, General English is a perfect foundation course to get you to the required entry level for these courses.

Studying in the daytime means you can join social activities after class, in the evenings and on weekends. These are a great chance to meet other students, practise your English and explore Sydney. Typical activities include coastal walks, visiting local attractions, pub nights, cultural events and more.
A first day can be nerve-wracking, but ELC we can make it easy for you. Your day will start with an level test and and speaking interview with one of our senior academic team members. This will allow us to ensure that you join the right class to maximise your learning potential. You will then be given a full orientation to life at school. Throughout the day, our student experience team will look after everything you need and answer any questions you may have.
