Hi, I’m Marie, I’m 26 years old and from Switzerland. I have a bachelor’s degree in business management. After taking a two-month holiday, I thought it would be a great idea to study for a few weeks to keep learning and meet new people. That’s why I decided to study English overseas, and Australia, specifically ELC, became my destination.
What I like most about ELC is its location and the amazing team. In class, I really enjoy learning with my teachers and classmates.
What I love about Sydney is how vibrant the city is, there’s so much to see and the food culture is fantastic.

The classes here at ELC are going very well, I’ve made a lot of progress thanks to the teachers who are very pedagogical. The students in my class are a good representation of my level of English, and I’m meeting new people. I’ve been able to do several activities with the school, such as going to the aquarium or walking around Sydney’s north. I’m glad I chose ELC at the start of my working holiday visa so I could improve my level quickly.

At ELC, the cultural diversity in the classes and at school means that you can learn more about the world (food, what you can and can’t do…). The free and paid activities allow you to discover Sydney, its surroundings and how Australians live. The teachers and students come from different backgrounds, which means you can work on your pronunciation and listening skills. The teachers are super nice, cool and very professional. What’s more, the activity offered once a week in a bar allows students to meet new people and work on the English they learn in class.

In General English class, I truly feel the teachers are highly skilled professionals, each with their own unique teaching style. The lessons are well-balanced, covering grammar and vocabulary in depth while also using games to reinforce what we’ve learned. They also provide valuable extra information, like tips for life in Australia and additional resources for further study.

Making connections with classmates has been a great way to learn both the language and culture, and the excursions were especially effective for this. My teacher’s private lessons have greatly improved my speaking skills and motivation. She adjusts the syllabus and homework based on my progress and preferences, making this the most impactful class I’ve experienced.

The ELC is amazing! The teachers are very nice and create a good atmosphere in class. We learn a lot and it’s personalized for our level. In addition, the school is very well placed and there are plenty of great activities organized! There is even a travel desk that helps us entirely to organize trips. I recommend ELC school to learn English as well as for an excellent experience.

Before joining ELC, my English level wasn’t very strong, especially in speaking. But since starting here, I’ve improved my speaking, vocabulary, and grammar, all thanks to the highly skilled teachers. They’ve helped me progress in the easiest and most enjoyable way. Studying the English language abroad was one of my personal goals and came to Sydney AU, and choosing ELC was the best option. In these six months, ELC was my second home, everything was amazing from the beginning to the end, the staff was friendly, and the teachers were really nice and very professional, I liked the methodology and the environment.

I had the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds which was fascinating.

Currently, the trip is extraordinary, as it allows me to progress in English for sure. I’ve also been able to discover cultures that I didn’t know, plus this trip allowed me to visit lots of places in Sydney or the surrounding areas. for sure one of the best experiences of my life if not the best!

I would like to share my observations about the school itself, courses, and teachers’ approach.

My experience is based on a period of around two years. During this time, I actively participated in four different courses:
General English, EAP preparation for the IELTS exam (morning and evening), and Cambridge B1.

The place itself: The space in which a person learns is important, so I will start with that. The location is strategically perfect right in the city center. Inside the school there is a space that is favorable for learning, resting and eating.

The teachers are competent and have a very positive attitude and respect for students. It is important to emphasize professionalism in being both in a close relationship and with a professional distance. However, what personally delight is their creativity and flexibility. This is expressed in empathetic observation of the group and sometimes adaptation to reality.

Variety of courses: When it comes to learning the language thoroughly, the most valuable thing for me was the Cambridge preparation.
General English is easier, the light version. English Academic and IELTS preparation is a different type that takes a matter of fact approach to the topic.

I would end by appreciating your friendly approach at the reception desk, in the office and during lessons, it does not stress students and leaves them with freedom that is valuable. At school, we feel that you are there for us!

In conclusion, I can assure you that I will recommend your school to other potential clients.

I spent about 4 weeks in ELC. There were many wonderful and nice teachers and students. Because of them, I could adapt to the school! Also there are a lot of activities. I attended activities and it gave me chances to improve my english. So I feel that my english skills are getting better than before. It makes me fun and have confidence. I spent 3 months at ELC, and it was 3 months with great meetings. ELC allowed me to meet people from all over the world and create real friendships. Concerning the classes, the teachers were always engaged and offered varied lessons. The school also organized lots of activities, both paid and free, like museum visits, and outings to Surf Camp, and Port Douglas. I’ll always remember my time at ELC fondly, with all the wonderful people I met and the fun we had.

I remembered my first time at the Kent street, I went with other students of my class and I met a lot of other students of the school, it was a very good time.

I also went to conversation class many times and it was a great occasion to meet other students and improve our speaking skills, the topic changed every time and it was very useful to learn new vocabulary.

I’ve been studying at ELC for about 6 months. During the course period, I’ve studied intensive English, which is quite helpful for learning many English skills. All my teachers are fantastic; they have passion about teaching English. The school not only supports us in our education but also helps us get oriented in the city. I spent five months at ELC, and from the first day, I felt really welcome. The staff and teachers are genuinely friendly and try to help you as much as possible. It was also very easy to find new friends, as everyone is in the same situation and, therefore, really welcoming to new people. The English course is designed in various ways so that it doesn’t get boring over time. With the afternoon class, you can choose something fitting for you to improve your English even more. The travel agent at the school makes planning trips really easy, as they provide a wide range of activities and trips.

The whole experience represented for me an extraordinary opportunity to study English while making friends who, like me, decided to embark on this journey. The school environment is fun, young, and inclusive. The course helped me achieving a great level of confidence with the language and the way it is designed helped me a lot – on top of the lessons, you have the possibility to join a wide range of activities which helped me a lot both in improving my English and connecting with other students. Teachers are qualified and they all consider students’ needs ensuring their lessons to be dynamic and fun. In a nutshell, an incredible experience which I strongly recommend to all travel lovers willing to improve their English.

ELC is a really good school. It’s a good place for international students to exchange their cultures.

The Cambridge FCE course is amazing. Especially the teacher, Camilla, she is very strict with us, so that makes everyone very focused in class. I think the Cambridge course is one of the best here because you can learn everything from it: Grammar, writing, listening, speaking – it’s more intensive and better than other courses. I like that Camilla writes down new vocabulary, the definition and gives examples on how to use the word, so it’s easy to understand and to copy the information from the board.

I really like the social events at ELC. I went to last year’s Christmas party, and it was a really good opportunity to meet students from other classes and meet new people from other countries.

Before coming to ELC, I tried the Cambridge and General English course in other schools, but they had too many students and the atmosphere was too intense. It was just the teacher talking and students were not interacting or asking questions. I didn’t like that.

I would definitely recommend ELC to others. Especially the Cambridge course. We practice writing every week and the teachers are very responsible in marking our writing so we can improve a lot.

I am going to study CAE Cambridge course next month and I am very excited about it!

我之前去过Greenwich试听过他们的剑桥课和General English课。但是一个班里人太多了，而且氛围很僵硬，只有老师在讲课，没有学生之间的互动。

Everyone working at ELC is friendly and kind. The teachers are patient, understanding and caring…ELC is now my second home.

My private Business class was great. The teacher was very passionate and kind. He was strict but in a good way that helped me to learn. He corrected every mistake in grammar or pronunciation. His lessons were enlightening because he based it on his own experience as a manager.

I liked the General English class, mostly because the teacher, Jennifer, was very cheerful, nice, and passionate about teaching. She could answer all of my questions and I learned many things. We had a lot of discussion in class which helped me improve.

I feel like I have improved my English a lot because of all the teachers here.

I like ELC because I can play interesting games, learn the different animal words and I can also make a PowerPoint to share with classmates.

The most enjoyable part of the program is learning how to use the computer and make a PowerPoint to describe our country. Then we shared the PowerPoint to classmates.

I think the Global Citizen class is so interesting and I like it very much because sometimes we play the funniest games, like “Hot seat”.

This is my first time to come to Australia. I was very nervous, because I didn’t speak English very much and I was afraid that I can’t understand the class. But I got used to it in the second week at school. It’s a very warm environment. The school, the teacher is also very kind and the students are very generous. Everything was great. The teacher, Lauren, was very nice. I met people from other countries.
I have made some progress so I’m really happy. Now we can have a conversation with people after studying 2 weeks!
The class was very nice and very interesting because we learn English while playing games, watching movies, listening to music, and by doing grammar lessons.

I started studying at the Intermediate level and finished in Upper Intermediate. I enjoyed most of my classes. I had the opportunity to live with five Australian teachers and an American teacher who gave me full support in answering my questions and helping with questions outside of class as well.

I studied in the night period and it did not stop me from improving my level of English. I also recommend the structure of the school – complete dining room, rest area, and computer room, all available as long as you need.

The lessons were extremely fun. We learned so much about different nationalities. Most students were alone in Australia, but that is no problem because your family there is ELC!

ELC is very different to the German schools. That’s perfect… In my country I was very happy at the weekend. No school…Yeeey! In Australia, I really missed the school, the teacher and the other students at the weekend.

I am very happy I can be a part of English Language Company. It’s an amazing place where I can meet so many students from different countries all around the world. In my class I’m the only Indonesian so I can practice and improve my English more and more because I didn’t have a chance to speak my language. The students are very friendly and easy going. I’m from South America and it’s the first time that I travel overseas and I’m so glad that I choose this country. Classes

I started in the pre-intermediate class so I couldn’t speak English very well. We ask a lot of questions and translation. There is a lot of support, so it’s really good. There were really good extra classes – very fun!

When I studied hospitality for one month the teacher spoke slowly so we could understand and we could ask lots of questions. She explained very well and we could understand.

Hospitality internship

When I was working in my internship there were a lot of Aussies and people from other countries so we could improve our skills and our English. When I worked in a hotel, I could understand most and I could explain to other people in the job because I knew what to do. I made a lot of friends on the job and it was a really amazing experience to talk in English with other people at work.

SWAP class

In the work class, we learned how to make a resume – that was a really good class. Now I know how to make a very good resume easily. Also, there was a career fair, and university teachers came to ELC to talk to us and that was really good experience. We can check different universities and majors – it was good for us.

Activities

The activity calendar is very nice. The wildlife show was a very good experience. Animals came to school and it was really fun.

Sydney

I love living in Sydney, it’s a lovely place. Also, it was really good experience to go to the countryside.

At ELC, I experienced far more than I could have ever imagined. I have studied at ELC for more than one year, my English has improved a lot since I arrived. When I came here, I couldn’t speak English at all, so I started at a pre-intermediate level. I still remember my first day at ELC, I was super shy and I was shaking because I couldn’t understand what the teacher and classmates were saying.

The General English course was very relaxed and enjoyable, which led me to get used to my class quickly. After a few months, I studied in Cambridge exam preparation courses, PET, FCE and CAE. The courses enabled me to develop all English skills, reading, writing, listening, speaking and grammar with very competent teachers. More importantly, all my classmates had the same goals, which provided us with a high level of motivation and close relationships with classmates and the teachers.

Thanks to the amazing courses, I accomplished to pass the exams, PET, FCE and CAE, at which point I decided to study at university in Sydney. To prepare for my further studies, I’ve studied in Academic English course for 10 weeks. In this course, I learned how to write an academic essay and give a presentation, which are necessary skills to study at an Australian university. Everything I gained in this course was fresh for me because I’ve never learned these skills in Japan.

Thanks to ELC, I’ve got ready for my further studies in Sydney with confidence in my English.

Academic English is a really good course, it’s not just about IELTS you can also prepare for further study. You can learn academic skills such as how to write an essay and do a presentation. Every four weeks we do a real IELTS exam practice. Afterwards, we check our mistakes. We also do some practice exercises each week in class – like the writing part of the exam.

Before I started this course, I was completely lost. I had no idea about the IELTS exam. Without this course, I wouldn’t be able to do it.

I used to write essays at university in Italy and I think the structure is similar but it’s completely different when you are writing in another language. Now I feel much more confident. In the beginning, I wouldn’t be able to do it.

CPE is the best English course I have had in many years. It emphasizes the natural use of English, and it has helped me solve many specific questions I had about complex grammar and lexis.

All the students in my class were very satisfied with the content of the program, as well as with the overall results. We all passed the test with high marks!

I’m going to miss this place so much! The teachers are amazing. All staff her have been so good to me. I’ve improved my English a lot and the Cambridge class (FCE) with Pamela was the best I’ve ever had!

The teachers I had were amazing; they tried really hard to make the classes fun with activities and interesting documentaries to improve our listening skills. Sydney is a beautiful place. With the school activities, you can see different places and learn about the Australian lifestyle and history of Sydney.

The classes at ELC are fun and I can improve my English. I can talk with friends from other cultures. The class is difficult but good for understanding a different language. The time passes quickly because it is fun.

The English Extra class is also really good. For example, the pronunciation class helps you understand different accents.

When I first came to Australia I couldn’t understand or speak English. I have made a lot of improvement here at ELC and the Academic English course I am currently doing has really helped me improve my formal English and business vocabulary. I have one year left at university and this course will really help me with my university course as it focuses a lot not just on communication skills but also areas like report writing, essay writing and presentations.  I’m really enjoying my course!

Jessica, my teacher, makes our lessons very interesting. She always marks the extra writing work I do and takes the time to give me feedback and extra support, even though I know she is very busy!

English Language Company was the best school for me. I could learn from great teachers, and make lovely friends who were from different countries. They always supported and encouraged me. Everything at ELC is above my expectations. Social activities especially are above my expectations. The school organises lots of activities like Scary Canary, museums, tours, cinemas, weekend trips… there is something almost every day. It’s great!

I like the studying process – how it’s organised. In my classes we talk about very interesting topics, such as climate change and globalisation. I like the teachers here – Angela is very nice and very competent teacher and so is Lucia.

Our accommodation (Study house) is very convenient. It’s close to school and is in good condition. Everything is great!

I studied at ELC in 2006, and it was a great experience for me. Great people, nice teachers, and interesting lessons – I enjoyed the six months there. I also learned about Aussie culture. Hello. My name is Akiko Tanaka and I am studying at ELC in Sydney.

I recommend this school to Japanese, because there are few Japanese students in this school. Instead, there are many European students and Brazilian students. At first, most Japanese students will be confused with different cultures. But after 1 month, you will see that you fit in perfectly with your class mates and enjoy studying English at this school so much! This school’s facilities are very good: you can use your computer at student lounges with Wi-Fi. Also, there are many computers at the library and the student lounges. It is FREE!!! The school receptionists and teachers are very friendly and kind.

I have decided to join the Work & Travel program too. After graduating this school, I’ll get some job information from the company. So I’m not worried about job hunting. Finally, I would recommend this school to Japanese. If you want to make friends with people from other countries, you should come to ELC.
